ISM-Philadelphia Mega Meeting

The STB & Current Regulatory Outlook

The past few years have been extremely busy for the Surface Transportation Board (STB).  Since 2022, the STB has held numerous hearings on issues as diverse as widespread service challenges, Amtrak service on the Gulf Coast, and the merger of two Class I railroads, Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern.  This September, the STB is inviting shippers, railroads, and others to participate in a two-day hearing focused on growth in the freight rail industry.

The Surface Transportation Board (STB) is an independent economic regulatory agency that seeks to promote a balanced, competitive, and responsive surface transportation system, primarily the interstate rail network, and addresses the needs of the network for the benefit of the general public.
