Presenters

Jim Fleming, CPSM, CPSD, is a manager of product development and innovation as well as a senior instructor at the Institute for Supply Management® (ISM®). His multifaced role includes leading development of education and training courses, individual and organizational assessments and corresponding capability models for an AI-based solution, instructing classes and more as a dedicated subject matter expert. He is a Certified Professional in Supply Management® (CPSM®), a Certified Professional in Supplier Diversity® (CPSD®).

Prior to ISM, he spent more than 30 years working for Intel Corporation, primarily in supply chain management roles. He retired from Intel in 2014 and pursued his passion for education by joining ISM.

 

Description

Everyday life is filled with negotiation, whether at work or at home. We are often exposed to multiple choices or dilemmas when engaging with colleagues or suppliers. Therefore, negotiation should be viewed in a systemic interaction to achieve value. Negotiation is the process organizations use to reach an agreement. It consists of planning, preparing, and executing negotiation strategies, while reviewing personal and team negotiation performance. Not all negotiations follow the same process flow and require analysis to determine the best approach.
